What Our Customers Say

I quickly found that Small Actions was so rich in content and actionable steps that I finished reading it quite quickly because it immediately captured my attention and I didn’t want to put it down.

I have found that the advice throughout has given me a lot to reflect on and the interspersed anecdotes show how to apply the advice to your own career as well as making this a particularly engaging read. I intend to re read this throughout my career as I believe the advice will remain relevant and help me refocus as I grow in my profession.”

It has great tips, not just for beginners but also for senior professionals. The part that resonated the most with me was the importance of persistence, making use of current connections, building new ones, and maximizing professional social networks such as Linkedin. Another great thing I learned was the importance of building a consistent personality across all social media.

Sim masterfully weaves together a canvas of his observations about mindsets, skills, and behaviors that are important to every professional. Small Actions is a must read for those who want to make the most out of their life and career.

Eric Sim, CFA

Lacking social skills, I performed poorly in my first job as an FX salesperson. Keen to switch to academia, I applied for Princeton PhD program but was rejected.

I then took many small actions consistently over the years to improve myself. That led me to become a managing director at UBS Investment Bank. Armed with my extensive banking experience, I taught finance at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as an adjunct associate professor of finance.

Besides writing about career and life skills for more than two millions followers on LinkedIn, I am a keynote speaker and career coach.

Simon Mortlock

Growing up, I wanted to become a lawyer. But while working towards my law degree, I realised that writing was my true calling and decided to shift towards a more creative career path. With an LLB and BA under my belt, I joined a fantastic postgraduate journalism programme in my hometown of Auckland to learn the fundamentals of storytelling.

I was lucky to spend several years in Singapore as APAC editor of eFinancialCareers, travelling regularly to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Sydney to interview fascinating people in the financial services and recruitment industries.

While covering Asian markets, I wrote an article featuring senior banker Eric Sim. This sparked a writing partnership that eventually led to our collaboration. Writing a career book with Eric and absorbing his advice made me reflect on my own path — it was time for my own career reinvention, from business journalism to content marketing and copywriting.

This change has allowed me to apply my writing skills across a much broader range of content, from website to white papers. Most importantly, the transition brought me to where I am today: leading the amazing content team at K2 Partnering Solutions.
